Eligibility

The program invites some of the exceptional scholars from the incoming and current pool of Rice postdoctoral associates and fellows to join the Rice Academy. The program is by invitation only and is a complementary appointment granted in conjunction with one’s primary postdoctoral appointment at Rice.*

If you meet one (or both) of the following criteria, you may inquire about your eligibility for the program:

(1) you are a Rice postdoc directly hired by a partnered institute through an open, nation-wide or international search

(2) you are at Rice as a postdoc, but your salary is primarily supported by external funding from a grant/fellowship that you directly applied for and won (i.e. receiving funding from a faculty member’s grant that one was added onto typically does not make one eligible for the Rice Academy)

External candidates seeking postdoctoral appointments at Rice are not eligible for invitation into the Rice Academy until they are employed at Rice and meet at least one of the criteria above.

*Please note that the Rice Academy does not provide salary support.
