BIOGRAPHY
Taylor received her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology with a focus on Human Development, Culture, and Learning Sciences and an M.Ed. in Quantitative Methods from The University of Texas at Austin. She received her B.S. in psychology from Baylor University and her M.S. in Sport Psychology from Michigan State University. Her research broadly focuses on the interplay between identity (e.g., ethnic identity, first-generation status) and social systems that impact individuals' academic/work experiences. More specifically, her lines of research examine burnout and well-being, sense of belonging and motivation, and experiences of prejudice/discrimination. She uses both quantitative and qualitative methodologies in her work.
At Rice, she is working with Dr. Margaret Beier on a series of projects designed to assess and improve academic equity in STEM courses. The work aims to contribute to creating sustainable change in STEM education at Rice.
In her free time, she enjoys trying new restaurants, playing with her dog, and watching reality TV.
