BIOGRAPHY

Rice Academy Junior Fellow

Rakesh Banerjee is a Rice Academy Junior Fellow. Rakesh's research focuses on issues of health, environment and institutions in developing countries. His research examines the effects of extreme weather events on child health and the role of public policies in moderating those effects. His research also studies the structure of village level local governments in developing countries and their role in the delivery of public goods. He is currently studying parental responses to early life health endowments of their children.

Rakesh received his B.Sc in Economics from Presidency College, University of Calcutta and his, M.A in economics from Delhi School of Economics. He recently received his Ph.D. in economics from University of Southern California.
