BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Vishnu Nair received his Integrated Master of Science in Chemistry with minors in Electrical Engineering and Physics from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay in 2016, following which he obtained his MS in Physics and PhD in Materials Chemistry with focus on Biophysics and Bioelectronics from the University of Chicago in 2020. His graduate and undergraduate research experience is in the field of synthesis and fabrication of novel nanomaterials and composites and their utility as functional biological interfaces to modulate cellular signaling and dynamics in clinically relevant contexts.

As a junior fellow of the Rice academy he will be working under Dr. Jacob Robinson at Rice Neuroengineering Initiative on a diverse set of problems in neuroengineering. Utilizing his expertise in Material science and bioelectronics he would focus on understanding and modulating biological processes underlying Traumatic brain injury, nerve regeneration and brain stimulation by developing remote magnetically controlled devices.

In his free time Vishnu enjoys photography, singing, traveling, hiking, running and volunteering for LGBTQ+ health.
